About Dal Lake & Houseboats
Dal Lake is Srinagar’s most famous water landmark spanning 18 sq km. Lined with cedar-carved luxury houseboats, floating vegetable markets, and traditional wooden Shikara boats, it offers an unforgettable romantic stay amidst Zabarwan mountains.
History & Heritage
Mughal emperors loved Dal Lake and laid out famous gardens around it (Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh). Cedar houseboats were first introduced during the British colonial era.
